Spring

Springtime is here - gardens start to turn into a flurry of action and the thought of looking after your garden starts to feel overwhelming. My advice: sit back and enjoy it - and do exactly that. Put out your outdoor furniture, make a coffee and relax. Let a little chaos consume the garden; there is still time to train, prune and clean up. During these few weeks after a garden awakens with vibrancy from the increased hours of fresh daylight, I prefer to watch and observe.

If you missed some late winter tasks such as mulching, pruning and even adding nutrients then you may want to sneak them in, or not. Gardens are more forgiving than we give them credit for. They persevere and enjoy the good times when they come.

A fun task to complete is new plantings. If you notice bare patches or you want to add a little extra to the garden, early spring is a great time for planting new plants and a great time to explore the wonderful stock at your local nursery

From time to time I will be adding ramblings of my garden-focused mind, giving insights into gardening, horticulture and landscape design
